Health & Sanitation- PHDRDF Arogya
Health is an important precondition to socio economic development. Recognizing the challenges and gaps in delivery of health services to rural villages, PHDRDF Arogya is one of the core interventions of the Foundation.
The following services are provided under PHDRDF ‘Arogya’

- Women & Child Health Care Centres
- Adolescent Health
- Construction of Toilets in Schools/ Community.
- Awareness Generation on Safe Drinking Water, Health, Hygiene and Sanitation
A. BHEL Health Camps & Awareness Campaigns
PHDRDF in partnership with Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL) has been conducting generic mobile health camps at their four plant locations – Goindwal (Punjab), Haridwar (Uttrakhand), Jagdishpur (UP) and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). This year 204 generic health camps were successfully conducted in Goindwal which benefitted 19,381 patients, 228 generic health camps in Haridwar which benefited 15,885 patients and 216 camps in Jagdishpur which benefitted 16,416 patients. 83 generic health camps were held in Bhopal and it benefitted 5,286 patients. PHDRDF also initiated Free Hepatitis ‘B’ Vaccination programme for four months in Haridwar where 12 special Hepatitis Vaccination camps were held and 523 people were vaccinated; the programme was inaugurated by Sh. S.K.Agarwal General Manager, HR, BHEL Haridwar. 02 awareness generation camps were also conducted during the visit of mobile health van.
B. PMV Maltings Pvt. Ltd
PHDRDF along with PMV Maltings Pvt Ltd., a leading producer of premium quality malt, undertook healthcare campaigns in Pataudi (Rajasathan) and Kashipur (Uttrakhand). The main aim of these health camps is to ensure access to health care and to identify and cure anaemia among the people. 22 generic health camps have been conducted under this project which has benefited 2,547 people. Awareness sessions on anemia were conducted in Government schools especially for the girl students.
C. BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL)
PHDRDF with support from BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) is conducting free health camps in the low income settlements (LIS) of Delhi. . A MoU was signed by Mr. Ramesh Adige, Chairman, PHDRDF and Mr. Prem R Kumar, CEO, BYPL towards this partnership. In the first phase of the intervention PHDRDF conducted 50 mobile health camps. In the seocnd phase a two- day mega camp was held where 623 people benifitted. In the third phase 20 health camps per month are being conducted with an outreach of more than 2000 patients each month.
D. HPL Additives Limited HPL Additives Limited (HPLA)
is one of the largest manufacturers of Polymer Additives and Specialty Chemicals. They have partnered with PHDRDF to implement their CSR initiatives for FY 2014-15. A Women and Child centre across three villages – Dhatir, Sikanderpur and Saroorpur in Faridabad, Haryana was setup which caters to the medical needs of women and children. This was inagurated on 24th July 2015, by Mrs. Mona Anand, Director HPL Additives in presence of Ms. Minal Anand, Assistant Manager HPL Additives and team of PHDRDF. Regular generic health camps and awareness camps are being organised in the above three villages reaching out to about 1500 people each month. Health kits are also distributed during awareness camps.
E. Skippers Electricals (India) Ltd.
Skipper deals in the field of Substation Equipments, it partnered with PHDRDF for conducting healthcare camps in various locations around Delhi and NCR. PHDRDF has conducted and undertook one day health care campaigns which has benifitted 156 people
F. Kadimi Tools Mfg. Co. (P) Ltd.
Kadimi Tool is a leading manufacturer of thread rolling dies and a preferred supplier to a number of fastener units in the world. PHDRDF in association with Kadimi tool is implementing healthcare activities in two villages i.e. Dharuhera and Kapasera in Gurgaon. 10 generic health camps have been organized so far reaching out to 100 people at each camp. Health packets are also districbuted during these camps, which contain – soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, one biscuit packet and a juice pack. The inauguration ceremony was held on 20th July 2015 by Mr. Sahil Nath, Director in presence of Mr. Ashwani Rustagi, Mr. Ashwani Sharma from Kadimi Tool Mfg. Co.(P) Ltd and team of PHDRDF.
SANITATION (CONSTRUCITON OF TOILETS)(+)
A. Oriental Carbon Chemicals
is one of the market leaders in the production of Insoluble Sulphur for the Tyre and Rubber industry around the world. PHDRDF with the support of Oriental Carbon Chemicals constructed 2 toilet blocks (two seated toilets in one block) for girls in government schools in Dharuhera, Haryana. The inaugration of the first block was done on 26th March 2015 by Mr Vijay Sabarwal, Sr.Vice President (operation) OCCL and Mr. A.D.Almeida, Vice President Finance, OCCL along with Mr S.S. Rana, Head HR and Mr KK Sharma, Sr Manager HR OCCL. Students are now using both toilet blocks which has reduced open defecation in that area.
B. HPL Additives
PHDRDF in partnership with HPL Additives constructed 4 toilets for girls (two in each school) in Government Senior Secondary school in Gaunchi, and Government High School Samaypur in Ballabhgarh, Haryana.
c.Wood Group PSN India Pvt. Ltd.
Wood Group PSN India Pvt. Ltd. is the largest provider of brownfield services to the oil and gas industry. PHDRDF partnered with Wood Group PSN India Pvt. Ltd. and constructed 4 toilets in govt. primary school of Bandhwari, and Govt. Primary School of Shikhopur in Haryana. They were inaugurated on 6th May 2015 by Mr. J.K. Dhar, Country Manager and other representatives of Wood Group PSN in presence of Ms. Anjana and Mr. Shreeraam from PHDRDF.
D. Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC)
SEWA-THDC is the social arm of Tehri Hydro Development Corporation in the the Tehri, Garhwal region of Uttrakhand. PHDRDF partnered with SEWA- THDC and constructed 17 new toilet blocks in the government schools of – Kashipur, Jaspur and Gadarpur in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. The toilets were inaugurated and duly handed over to the school authorities
E. Kadimi Tools
PHDRDF, with support from Kadimi Tools is implementing a project on school infrastructure development to promote quality education in the Government Girls School at Behror, Rajasthan. As a part of the project a girl’s toilet block with three independent seats has been constructed to ensure that the girls get a conducive environment for education and do not have to face the difficulties of open defecation, which is also a reason for falling attendance in the schools.
